Materials: marshmellows, toothpicks, Cherrios, Fruit Loops
Doesn't this already sound like fun?!? We are really working on number sense and place value. Students were struggling with the concept of place, digit, and expanded form. So what better way to learn and remember then with food! It was quite the successful lesson (I must brag a little). Students rolled dice and built a number using the Cheerios and Fruit Loops. The marshmellows and toothpickcs were the stand or base for the hundreds & tens (Fruit Loops) and ones (Cherrios). It was a blast! Not to mention they grasped the concepts pretty well now :)
