Scientists At Work

We dove into Science this week studying our first unit, Weather. The wind, lack of rain, storms on the east coast, and drought conditions we are experiencing are providing the students with lots of real life examples and questions.

Specifically this week we studied the water cycle. The students LOVE the Water Cycle song. Ask them to sing it to you or check it out at teachertube.com and search water cycle. After being introduced to the vocabulary (evaporation, condensation, water vapor, precipitation, and collection) the students became scientists. Each table group created their own model of the water cycle and each day we are making observations and tracking what is happening in our Science journals. It is really bringing the water cycle to life especially when we have no rain to observe.

I love to see the children's enthusiasm about Science. It is so addicting! They are so intrigued and excited to learn about Science. I am looking forward to getting them out to the Outdoor Science area now that the weather is out of triple digits.

Check out their water cycle models...
